The first morning in a new city, I try not to plan too much. Coffee first, map second, and no real plan until after breakfast.
That morning I found a bakery by following the smell of bread, a park by following a dog, and a bookshop by following a sign I could barely read. None of those were on any list I had made, and all of them were better than the list.
Travelling, I am learning, is mostly about leaving room for accidents. A full schedule leaves no room at all.
