Three hours by train is, for me, the perfect length for a trip. Long enough to settle in, short enough not to get restless.
I took a window seat, opened a book, and watched fields go past between chapters. The train stopped at small stations I had never heard of, and each one made me wonder what life there looks like on an ordinary Tuesday.
I arrived feeling rested, which is not how I usually feel after travelling. The train did the work, and I just sat there. That is a good arrangement.
